Our VISION
FACE Africa believes in the power of
connections and collaborations to change lives and
eradicate poverty.
Our MISSION
FACE Africa connects and collaborates with individuals and organizations
doing life-changing work around the world to
raise awareness and help transform impoverished communities in Liberia
and Sierra Leone.
Our
goal is to rebuild and improve communities that were impacted during years of civil unrest in Liberia and Sierra Leone by providing access to clean
water and sanitation, education and training, health and nutritional
programs, and empowering women and girls.
We accomplish our goal by forging partnerships with
local communities, partner organizations and government agencies in the countries that we serve
to ensure sustainable, long-lasting programs.
Our Approach
At FACE Africa, we do not
reinvent the wheel. All over the world are exceptional people and
organizations doing life-changing work. What they sometimes need most is
additional funding and resources to expand their outreach and scope.
Instead of duplicating efforts, FACE Africa works to help these already
existing organizations do even more.
Benefits
of local partners
• Local partners are better positioned to
understand and navigate social, political, and economic issues impacting
projects. They have spent years researching the terrain and learning and
perfecting the skills of implementing projects. We rely on their
experience and knowledge to ensure sustainable, long-lasting programs.
• Local partners have more
savvy at leveraging local financial resources for cost-sharing in
projects
• It is much more cost effective to engage
existing organizations than establishing and maintaining our own
staff
What we
offer
Our main focus is to raise awareness about the needs of under-served
communities and to raise funds to bring life-changing and
sustainable programs to address those needs.
In order for us to affect any significant change, community
participation is critical, even with excellent partners. For a
project to be truly successful, communities must have ownership of
the projects we implement. That is why we engage communities at
every stage and at every level– from project planning, building, and
financing, to ongoing project maintenance.
Our Selection Criteria
Through country visits and
conversations with local partners as well as governmental and
non-governmental agencies, we identify communities with the most urgent
needs and vet potential communities against one of our four program
areas. Mainly, our partner organization evaluates the communities and
makes recommendations projects that would best serve those communities.
There are other factors that we take into consideration when selecting a
community:
• Program model not already in the community -
absence of a similar program • Importance, size and urgency of need
being addressed • Demonstrated program outcomes, including social
impact and community satisfaction • Deep, life-changing impact on
individuals • High opportunity for local ownership and adaptation
• Community’s willingness to embrace/support new initiative •
Transferability of core program modules and funding model to community
• Good match with potential donors • FACE Africa's capacity to
support replication/adaptation in Community
