Project #1 – Barnersville – FACE Africa, in partnership with Clean Water for Kids and a generous $10,000 grant from the Davis Project for Peace, completed its first project in a community of approximately 600 in Bardnersville, Liberia. The community had several open wells but no direct source of clean water supply. The project involved the installation of a water purification system, known by its trade name as the Skyhydrant, that can produce up to 20,000 liters of drinking water per day. The system is currently supplying hundreds of residents with clean and safe drinking water. Read More>>>

Project #2 & 3 – Joezohn - Water was a major concern for the residents of Joezohn. While rain and streams are fairly plentiful during the rainy season (April through September), the village’s reserves deplete quickly during the dry season and they have no access to pumps or wells. The residents had no latrine facilities so all of them had urinate and defecate in the forest, which exposed them to any number of pathogens and disease-carrying animals and insects. In partnership with local partner Concern Liberia and a grant from Chase, we completed our second clean water and sanitation project in Joezohn, Liberia – population 300. We rehabilitated a well, installed a hand pump and built 2 communal latrines as well as conducted hygiene training sessions. Read More >>>

Project #4 – Harmonville - In mid-January 2011 the nonprofits Nu Vsion PAC and ActionAid Liberia carried out youth training and needs assessment surveys in four counties in Liberia, including Montserrado, Grande Bassa, Bomi and Gbarbolu. Findings from the surveys reported that the Township of Harmonville (Grand Bassa) was facing severe safe drinking water issues. The town had a single hand pump constructed by an NGO in 1996. Due to the war in 2003 the pump head was stolen away and residents resorted to drinking from the contaminated open well. In August 2011 with funding from P&G’s Covergirl as part of their commitment to clean water and sanitation, FACE Africa rehabilitated the broken handpump in Harmonville, Grand Bassa that now supplies 2,000 residents with safe drinking water. In October 2010, designer and actress Whitney Port visited Liberia with her family as part of a humanitarian mission with FACE Africa. The trip was sponsored by the generous support of Symphony, the Dubai Mall’s first and only luxury concept boutique and the Alabbar family. Symphony also held a charity auction during their official grand opening raised a total of $10,000 towards the Orphanage project! Read More>>>

Project #9 & 10 – Williamtown – Like it’s neighbor Joezohn, clean water was a major concern for the residents of Williamtown. While rain and streams are fairly plentiful during the rainy season, the village’s reserves deplete quickly during the dry season and they have no access to pumps or wells. The residents had no latrine facilities so all of them had urinate and defecate in the forest, which exposed them to any number of pathogens and disease-carrying animals and insects. With a $10,000 from the Global Neigborhood Fund, we implemented a clean water and sanitation project in Williamtown.
